If I told you that you can get great deals on children’s items, make money from selling your children’s items, and help the community all at the same time what would you say? I know! Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it is true and you can benefit! Just Between Friends Fort Worth is coming to Will Rogers Memorial Center-Amon G. Carter Exhibit Center and it is open to the public Thursday, September 3, 2015-Saturday, September 13, 2015. This is Texas’ largest children’s and maternity consignment sale!
The Community Caring Center in Azle partners with the Tarrant Area Food Bank to provide the BackPack Program that helps needy families by sending food home in children’s backpacks from school. This helps ensure that children are getting the food to eat at home when the free/reduced lunches are not available.
Christian Community Action has been on our website for a couple of weeks and Deanne McCarty, Development Officer of CCA contacted me to see if we could meet up so that we could find out more about each other. To be honest, I had not heard of this agency until they contacted me to be on the Giving Goods’ website so I really didn’t know much about them and I jumped on the chance to go for a visit. I met Deanne at their main office on Mill Street and I would have to say I was shocked when I first drove up, I could not believe how big it was!!
I recently had the opportunity to visit Jonathan’s Place in Garland and Amy Cobb the Director of Development spent some time introducing Jonathan’s Place to me. Jonathan’s Place has three main services: a “home-styled” emergency shelter for abused, abandoned and neglected children, a Foster and Adoptive Family program, and a Girls Treatment Program.
Samaritan House is located off of Hemphill near the hospital district in Fort Worth. I have driven by several times and was curious about Samaritan House and how they help the community. Patrick Vickner, Facilities Manager and Billy, a client and employee were kind of enough to spend some time with me to share about Samaritan House. The atmosphere was homey and welcoming, I enjoyed my visit to Samaritan House.
