It’s Back to School Time Again!!

It is back to school time and non-profits need your donations to help needy children succeed in school!!  Please check the following list to see how you can help a non-profit in your area!!  Many stores are running awesome deals on school supplies right now, so while you are hitting up stores for your children’s school supplies pick some up for your favorite non-profit.  Here are a few who can use your donations!  Also, scroll to the bottom of the page to see how your time can help during the back to school season.

Donations

ACH Child and Family Services (Fort Worth)-Donations of spiral notebooks, composition notebooks, 3-ring binders, facial tissues, loose-leaf paper, backpacks, glue sticks, #2 pencils, mechanical pencils, colored pencils, highlighters, ballpoint pens, index cards, supply boxes, drawstring backpacks, pocket folders, baby wipes, construction paper, blunt-tip scissors, large pink erasers, pencil sharpeners, graph paper, Sharpies, white-out/correction tape, student planners, and graphing calculators (previously used) will benefit children.  Please bring donations to their Summit Campus by Monday, August 12th to allow for distribution.  Deliver to: ACH Child and Family Services, 3712 Wichita St., Fort Worth, TX 76119.

Alley’s House (Dallas)-Donations of any snacks/non-perishable foods (i.e. animal crackers, granola bars, yogurts, fruit snacks, ramen instant noodles, etc.), diapers sizes 4-6, prenatal and women vitamins, and composition books/journals.

Antelope Valley Child, Youth, and Family Services (Lancaster)-Any supplies are appreciated including: pens, #2 pencils, mechanical pencils, pencil head erasers, crayons, markers, map pencils, highlighters, papers, construction paper, index cards, tissue boxes, folders, spirals, 3 ring binders, backpacks, supply boxes, gift cards for clothes, etc.  In addition they need small stuffed animals or small gift bags with little trinkets for adoption consummation gifts.

Bryan’s House (Dallas)-The following donations are needed for our back-to-school drive: #2 pencils, eraser caps, 24 count crayons, markers, map colors, pens (red, blue, black), rulers, sharp scissors, 4 oz. bottle glue, glue sticks, yellow highlighters, construction and manila paper 12×18, pocket folders with brads, composition and spiral notebooks, loose leaf notebook paper in wide and college ruled, cursive writing tablets, index cards, clipboards, 1 1/2″, 2″, and 3″ binders, pencil bags, tissue boxes, sticky notes 2×2, Ziploc bags (quart and gallon), and wet wipes. Donations can be dropped off weekdays from 7am to 5pm at 3610 Pipestone Road, Dallas, TX 75212.

Buckner (Dallas/Fort Worth)-24 #2 pencils, 24 count crayons, boxes of Crayola washable markers, Friskers 5″ blunt/safety scissors for Pre-K, Friskers 5″ sharp scissors for older grades, glue sticks, packages of manila or construction paper (12×18)-50 count, spiral notebooks-wide ruled 70 pages, pocket folders- no brads, supply boxes with snap closure, 14 oz. Elmer’s white glue, eraser pencil caps, yellow highlighters, 1 1/2″ packages of notebook paper-wide ruled, 100 count index cards, 2 inch 3 ring binders, map colors, rulers, red pens, zipper pouches, black and white composition notebooks, pencil holders

CASA (Denton)- CASA needs backpacks, pencils, pens, pencil sharpeners, markers, rulers, binders, dividers, index cards, notebooks, notebook paper, calculators, crayons, zipper pencil/pen bags, pencil boxes, glues sticks, colored pencils, construction paper, composition notebooks, folders, 2″ and 3″ 3-ring binders, and Ziploc bags.  Please contact CASA at 940-243-2272 for more information.

Center for Transforming Lives (Fort Worth)-Donations of diapers/wipes, toilet paper, Kleenex, children’s underwear (ages 3-4 years), glass cleaner, disinfectant cleaner, laundry detergent, dish detergent, ZipLoc bags (various sizes), children’s forks, spoons, cups, plates, sanitizing wipes (Clorox, Lysol), tissues, glue sticks, construction paper (in large and 8.5 x 11 sizes), art supplies, bus passes, gas cards, and gift cards: Walmart, Target, CVS, Family Dollar are appreciated.  If anyone has any questions or would like to make a drop contact Ana Van de Venter at avandeventer@transforminglives.org or 817-484-1537 or call the main office at 817-484-1531.

Christian Center of Fort Worth (Haltom City)- Donations of backpacks and school supplies are greatly needed to help kiddos in the Fort Worth area.  Contact them at 817-834-5595 or 817-808-6862 to arrange drop off of your donation.

Children’s Health (Dallas)-Children’s Health will be doing a program this year called “Pack the Backpack”.  They will be packing backpacks for their patients in the hospital grades K-12 with all the items they need for school and information parents will need to assist a child with an illness when they return to school.  They need the following donations: backpacks for all ages, pencils, pens (red, black, blue), crayons, markers, rulers, Clorox wipes, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, wide and college rule loose leaf notebook paper, composition notebooks, 3 ring binders, spiral notebooks calculators (TI83 for high school students), dividers, and colored pencils.  Please contact Kelly Ihejiawu at kelly.ihejiawu@childrens.com or 214-456-8912 for more information.

Christian Community Action (Lewisville, Flower Mound, Carrollton, The Colony)-Gift cards, NEW clothes and socks youth sizes 5-18, NEW adult and youth shoes, and NEW school uniforms will help needy children get prepared for back to school.

Communities in Schools Greater Tarrant County (Fort Worth)-Donations of binders, notebooks, pens, pencils, glue, tissue boxes, paper, scissors, nonperishable food items, snacks, family size meals, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, deodorant, and soap will benefits students in the Tarrant County area.

Community Storehouse (Keller)-They do accept school supply donations all year long for those instances when a child is new to a school, or when a counselor may let them know of a child who needs additional supplies.  Supplies needed include: backpacks, #2 pencils, pink bevel erasers, plastic pencil boxes/pencil pouches, crayons, colored pencils, washable markers, dry erase markers, handwriting tablets- 5/8″, spiral notebooks, primary composition notebooks, secondary composition books, story tablets-3/4″ & 1/2″, 3-ring binders-1″ & 1.5″, subject dividers, lined paper and college ruled paper, glue sticks, white glue, 5″scissors, pocket folders, blue/black/red pens, 12″ rulers, and pencil sharpeners.  Drop off school supplies at their donation station Mon-Sat 10 AM-5 PM at 4640 Keller Hicks Road, Fort Worth, 76244.

Crowley House of Hope (Crowley)- All types of school supplies are requested.  This agency has a need for 1400 school uniforms, contact them to see how you can help this need.

Dallas Life Homeless Shelter (Dallas)-Backpacks, pencils, pens, pencil sharpeners, markers, rulers, binders, dividers, index cards, notebooks, notebook paper, calculators, dictionaries, crayons, zipper pencil/pen bags, pencil boxes, glue sticks, colored pencils, water paints, construction paper, writing tablets, composition notebooks, folders,  Ziploc bags, paper bags.  Please contact Anna Sweeney at asweeney@dallaslife.org or 214-421-1380 ext. ext.30 for more information.

Education in Action (Keller)-Donations of pens, 24″ or 12″ paper trimmer, three hole punch, pencils, erasers, dry erase markers, wide ruled loose paper, glue, highlighters, tri-fold boards, #10 envelopes, Sharpie markers, sticky tabs, Post-It Notes, laser labels, copy paper, 1″ and 2″ binders, manila folders, yellow, blue, red, and green 2 pocket folders, large paper clips, bracket folder fasteners, White Out, tape, digital camera, pastel copy paper (yellow, purple, and blue), card stock, poly mailers (multiple sizes), mailing labels (multiple sizes but mainly 2×4 and 3.5×5), 9×12 manilla envelopes are needed to provide engaging and meaningful experiential learning opportunities for students. Green Oaks Education and Support, Inc. dba Green Oaks School & Green Oaks Adult Learning (Arlington)- They need headphones (not earbuds) for their students to use with iPads and computers. With “Back to School” just around the corner, donations of 2 pocket folders with brads, white-3 ring 1″ binders, Crayola crayons, Crayola washable markers, Crayola water color paints, dry erase markers, dry erase erasers, dry erase cleaner, glue sticks, large calculators, washcloths, Amazon gift cards, Target gift cards, and Office Depot gift cards are greatly appreciated. Green Oaks would also like new iPads and smart TVs for classroom use. Green Oaks has a continuing need all year long for white copy paper, color copy paper, card stock, bottled water, paper plates, napkins, solo cups, disinfecting wipes, plastic utensils, Clorox spray, and paper bathroom cups.

The Homes for Children Corporation (Arlington)-Book bags, pencils/pens, notebooks, calculators, binders, journals/planners, and umbrellas will help children in need.  Use their contact link to find out how to donate these items.

Johnson County Family Crisis Center (Cleburne)-All types of school supplies including: glue sticks, Kleenex, folders, and spiral note books

The Hope Center (Fort Worth)-All types of school supplies including pencils, pens, backpacks, and notebook paper will help struggling families in Fort Worth.

Lancaster Outreach Center (Lancaster)-Donations of school supplies will help families in need in South Dallas County.

Living Word Teaching Center (New Fairview)–  All types of school supplies are needed to help low-income families in Wise County.  Contact Leo Morgan at 817-676-3989 for information on how you can donate.

Neighbor to Neighbors (Springtown)-A donation of all types of school supplies are request to help families struggling to make ends meet.

Mission Arlington (Arlington)-#2 pencils, 3 pronged pocket folders (red, green, yellow, blue only), 3-ring binders, backpacks, color (map) pencils, composition notebooks (black marble 100 count), construction paper, crayons (24 count), dry erase markers, glue (4 oz. or sticks), hand sanitizer, highlighters, manilla paper (9×12 and 12×18), notebook dividers, notebook paper (wide ruled), paper towels, pink erasers, protractors, pens in red, black and blue, rulers, scissors, spiral notebooks (70 count), tissue, washable markers, Ziplock bags (gallon and quart), and zipper pencil bags or boxes.

Pregnancy Help 4 U (North Richland Hills and Keller)-Donations of diapers size 1-6, prenatal vitamins, wipes, baby washes and shampoos, baby gift sacks for moms that go through their parenting classes, baby clothing, socks, blankets, and gift cards to Walmart ($15, $25, $50).

SafeHaven of Tarrant County (Fort Worth/Arlington)-Backpacks/book bags, composition notebooks, pencils/mechanical pencils, pens (blue, red, black), colored pencils, crayons, highlighters, markers, scissors, notebook paper, wide ruled spiral notebooks, pocket folders with brads, dividers, glue sticks, pink pearl erasers, 3 ring binders, pencil boxes/bags, manila paper, construction paper, children/teen tennis shoes.  Please deliver the supplies to one of the following sites: Berry Good Buys at 1701 W Berry Street, Fort Worth, 76110. Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10:00-5:00.  Arlington Resource Center at 401 W Sanford, Suite 1400, Arlington, TX 76011. Salvation Army (Dallas/Fort Worth)-Salvation Army serves five counties, so their supply list varies.  They need all types of school supplies including: backpacks, paper, rulers, etc.

Samaritan House (Fort Worth)-For back to school this year Samaritan House is providing all their children with a backpack filled with school supplies.  They need 200 backpacks filled with school supplies. Just tell them how many backpacks you can donate, and they will send you a list of kids and the supplies they need. Tarrant Literacy Coalition (Fort Worth)-Tarrant Literacy Coalition uses school supplies in its programs for adults and children who are working hard to improve their English reading and writing skills and study for the High School Equivalency exam (GED). They also use school supplies for their children who come to class with the parents.  They can always use pens, #2 pencils, notebook paper, spiral notebooks, rulers (regular and metric), regular markers and dry erase markers, crayons, coloring books, erasers, folders with pockets, file folders, pencil sharpeners, note cards, and note pads.

Volunteers of America Texas (Euless)-All school supplies including folders with pockets, journals, notebooks, pens/pencils, printer paper, and jump drives are requested.

Water for the Rock (Arlington)-General school supplies are needed.  Contact them at 817-860-9702 to get more information on how to donate.
